100516- Atlanta - Faculty members react with various emotions as the honorary degrees are given out. The Morehouse College 126th Commencement ceremony took place at 8am as more than 500 graduates became "Morehouse Men". The keynote speaker was Defense Secretary Dr. Robert M. Gates. Gates, along with Congressman Sanford D. Bishop Jr. '68, received honorary Doctor of Laws Degrees. Dr. Benjamin Payton, president of Tuskegee University, received the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters. Payton will retire from Tuskegee in June after serving for 28 years. President Emeritus Walter E. Massey, '58, who served the College for 12 years from 1995-2007, was honored with the first time Renaissance Medallion. Sunday, May 16, 2010 Bob Andres, bandres@ajc.com
